FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to be LGBTQ+  to play for Graces?

Of course you don’t! – We welcome players however they identify. We have had many straight players who just enjoy playing the game and the relaxed atmosphere in the club.

Is it only for men?

No – We are an all inclusive club and open to everyone.

Where and when do we play?

We currently play our home league games at Broxbourne CC , a 20 minute train ride from Liverpool Street station.  Our away games take place at grounds around the the greater London area.  Please check our fixtures page and feel free to come along to a game handy for you during the season.
Our season starts late April and will continue until early September
We also organise annual tours either in the UK or overseas.  In 2020 we had a preseason tour to Italy planned .  In previous years we have organised tours to play cricket in Corfu , Malta , Portugal & Spain. In 2023 we visited Ibiza – a thoroughly enjoyable tour!
Can I come along to a game?
Everyone is welcome to come along to a game – check the fixtures and hopefully there is one convenient for you. You’ll have a chance to meet us!
Most of the grounds have a bar / cafe.

Is there training?

We have pre-season nets at Lord’s – the dates for 2024 are under fixtures on the menu. If you’ve missed these most of the grounds we play at have practice nets we can use. You’re welcome to come along to the nets – just message us so we can expect you.

How long do the games last?

Our usual format is 40 overs – a normal 2pm start will usually finish by 7pm with a tea break of course!

The league games are a slightly longer format – 45 overs

We also have some T20 matches (check the fixtures page) which are much quicker.

Do I need to be an experienced player?

You are welcome to join the club as a player or supporter.  We have indoor nets where you can come along to watch or take part.  We welcome players of all abilities and like to make sure everyone has the opportunity to play a part in a relaxed and friendly environment.

What are the costs?

Please check these on the membership section

Do I need my own equipment?

Feel free to bring your own – we have bats , pads and everything required if you don’t have these. You will need your own cricket clothing.

Are there social events?

We have regular social events (during and out of season)  including film nights , dinners and general get togethers.  Check the website for the next one.

Is it possible to meet a Graces member for a chat?

If you feel more comfortable meeting up with one of us over a coffee to find out more about the club it’s usually no problem – we realise this may be more comfortable for some – just send us a message.
