Run chase achieved!
We decided to put Merton in to bat as they were waiting on players to arrive. This proved to benefit Graces with a terrific opening bowling spell by Newton Wijethilaka and Ragan. Firstly the Merton Captain being given LBW for a duck (he reckons he wasnt out) . So from 11/1 then became 20/2 then 20/3. A Terrific effort in the field by all players today saw Merton rolled for 131. All bowlers performed to a high standard. Especially Ragan with 19/4 off 5 overs and Mendis 40/3 off 8. After a wonderful afternoon tea Gordon Benjamin Shorrocks changed the order round a bit to give everyone a go and put Jonathan Hardisty and Stuart Anthony in to open the innings. The 1st wicket fell for 13 runs with Stuart being bowled for 5. Then our new NZ player Scotty came in and unfortunately was given LBW for 0. Niroshan then came to the crease and with the help of jonners put on a 50 run partnership to steady things leaving us then 67/3. Then unfortunately we had a mini batting collapse(how unusual) Leo and Ragan came to the crease and slammed 20 runs off the final over to get us over the line with 7 overs to spare. Stand out performers with the bat were Jonathan Hardisty with 22, Niroshan with 36 and Ragan with 41 no. Well Done boys !!!!!
